Position Available: SY 26-27 (New Staff Orientation 8/19/26) School:
Brewster Elementary School

Qualifications:

• Current and valid CT certification (070)
• Knowledge of assessment tools, methods, behavior modification, child psychology principles and current developments related to mental health issues and best practices
• Ability to collect, manage and analyze data to measure student progress, inform practice and create appropriate action plans
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all stakeholders
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents
• Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational skills, a high degree of flexibility and initiative

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Recommends intervention services, and IEP goals and objectives for learners who qualify for special education services
• Conducts comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations using a variety of assessment methods for a wide range of educational exceptionalities
• Conducts comprehensive Functional Behavioral Assessments, and Behavior Intervention Plan Designs and evaluate interventions to meet specific educational needs
• Create and monitor the implementation of SRBI for academic and behavioral interventions
• Carries a caseload of group and individual counseling with students utilizing current best practice models and techniques for treatment
• Provides Teacher consultation for classroom management strategies and teaching methodology;
  Classroom observations to assist professional and/or student growth via feedback
• Provides Parent consultation and education
• Coordinates and communicates with outside practitioners and agencies
• Participates as School Climate and Crisis Team Member
• Participates as a Data team member; reviews and analyzes data to help drive instructional practices for all students
• Designs curriculum and implements social/emotional learning in classrooms
• Maintains case records on all referred students
• Recommends intervention procedures
• Conducts individual, group counseling services for learners
• Consults with teachers and parents on educational, social-emotional and behavioral needs of students
• Attends IEP and other team meetings as
• Interprets the school psychological services to teachers and parents
• Cooperates with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies
• Acts as liaison between the school and juvenile court/DCF
• Attends staff, professional, and interagency meetings
• Assists with inservice training of school personnel
• Keeps abreast of new developments in the field
• Facilitates observations and screening of students
• Assists the principal with scheduling and coordination of Student Assistance Team
• Supports and promotes the District's Core Ethical Values with students, colleagues and parents
• Strives to implement the District's mission, goals and objectives outlined in the District's Strategic Plan
