Math Teacher

Regional School District 13 is seeking a full-time math teacher for Coginchaug Regional High School. The position requires a current and valid CT teaching certification (029). The teacher will know and effectively communicate the Regional School District 13 philosophy and mission. They will plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. The teacher will create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental level of the students.

They will prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation in accordance with RSD 13, state, and federal guidelines. The teacher will guide the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects with the ability to communicate these objectives effectively to students. They will establish high expectations for academic success and classroom behavior.

The teacher will employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media to meet the needs and capabilities of the student or students involved. They will identify special needs and seek the assistance of RSD
13 specialists. The teacher will assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports to supervisors and parents. They will maintain accurate and complete records as required by law and RSD
13 policy. The teacher will assist in designing, upholding, and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board Policy. They will actively participate in faculty and/or department meetings. The teacher will strive to maintain and improve professional competence. They will exert leadership in working with school and RSD 13 staff. The teacher will assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

They will establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents. The teacher will provide for professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning. They will assist in the preparation of data for local, state, and federal reports. The teacher will assist in the collection of data for providing appropriate intervention.

They will participate in faculty committee meetings, chaperoning, counseling, and other similar responsibilities that are part of the school's service in loco parentis; and exercise discretionary authority over day-to-day teaching functions. The teacher will perform other related duties as assigned.
