Job Summary:

The maintenance fabricator will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal structures and equipment according to specifications. This role requires a high level of precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work with various metalworking tools and machinery. The Maintenance Fabricator will play a crucial role in ensuring that our equipment and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

They must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication Assembly:
    • Fabricate metal parts and structures using various techniques such as welding, cutting, bending, and shaping.
    • Assemble fabricated parts into complete units or subassemblies.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs:
    • Assists with equipment breakdowns and malfunctions.
    • Participates in Preventative Maintenance Program as assigned.
  • Blueprint and Specification Interpretation:
    • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine the required materials and tools for fabrication and repair tasks.
    • Follow detailed work instructions to ensure accurate and precise fabrication.
  • Quality Control:
    • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets specifications and quality standards.
    • Inspect all parts and final assemblies for accuracy and quality.
    • Report any non-standard conditions to the crew leader, set up person, or supervisor.
    • Perform routine equipment checks as required.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure efficient workflow and resolve any production issues.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding production status and any issues encountered.
    • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team culture to ensure good communication of maintenance issues.
    • Communicates directly with supervisor to coordinate maintenance and repair work in production areas.
  • Safety and Maintenance:
    • Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
    • Report any unsafe conditions to the lead person or supervisor immediately.
    • Perform daily inspections on presses, welding equipment, and other machinery.
    • Take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions.
    • Contributes to departmental safety goals.
    • Ensures hand tools, power tools, and test instruments are used safely.
    • Follows all lock out/tag out procedures and lock storage policies.
    • Responds to notifications from security and fire alarms.
  • Workplace Organization:
    • Follow 7-S policies and procedures, meeting established goals.
    • Maintain a neat and orderly work area to promote safety and efficiency.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work Environment:
    • Exposure to a noisy and busy manufacturing environment.
    • Use of PPE, including safety glasses/goggles, gloves, and steel-toed boots, is mandatory.
    • Working in a fast-paced setting to meet production deadlines.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Engage in all required training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
    • Perform other assigned duties as necessary to support team goals and operations.
    • Responsible for maintaining the building and grounds.
    • Assists with the rebuilding and modification of production equipment.
    • Assist with robotics used in the manufacturing process.

Working Conditions:

  • This role involves both indoor and outdoor work, regardless of weather conditions. The technician should be prepared to work in fast-paced environments, collaborate with diverse teams, and always uphold safety standards.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and sketches for construction and repair tasks.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and communication purposes.
  • Valid driver s license with a clean driving record; equipment certification preferred.
  • Capable of lifting and moving tools or materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols related to electrical and mechanical work.
