Accounting Clerk II (S)

Position Details

Position Number:
Grade: NC03
Location: Roanoke River Correctional Institution, Halifax County, NC

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control all expenditures for the medium custody facility and, within the larger institution, for a minimum custody facility.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budget control, including fund availability and budget transfer requests.
  • Handle E‑Procurement and NCFS requirements for supplies and equipment, processing requisitions, purchase orders, expense vouchers, welfare expenditures, canteen, special funds, contracts, and P‑Card purchases; reconcile P‑Card accounts.
  • Generate financial reports and compile financial information for statistical reports; assist in budget preparation.
  • Serve as a fiscal policy resource, ensuring goods and services are ordered and received on the DAC Accounting System; collaborate with DAC staff, DAC Administration, the Controller’s Office, Purchasing, and vendors on fiscal matters.
  • Perform backup duties for the Accounting Clerk I, handling inmate trust fund and incentive wage activities.
  • Assist management and perform additional duties as directed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum education:

    high school or GED diploma and one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Documented knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience processing accounts payable in an accounting software application.
  • Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $31,200 – $53,812 annually.
