Tax Accountant

This is a super exciting full time job opportunity with one of our clients, a fast growing Life Insurance and Annuities Company. The Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's income tax reporting and compliance functions, with a primary focus on preparing tax provisions under U.S. GAAP and statutory accounting standards for life insurance entities. This role contributes to the accurate calculation of tax adjustments and ensures compliance with applicable accounting and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include preparing and reviewing federal and state income tax returns, maintaining supporting schedules and work papers, assisting with quarterly estimated tax calculations, and coordinating with external tax advisors throughout the compliance process. The position also supports the collection and organization of tax-related information needed for timely filings.

Additional duties include reconciling tax provision amounts to filed tax returns, conducting research on tax issues, and participating in tax planning initiatives and other department projects as assigned. The Tax Accountant reports directly to the Tax Manager and is expected to work on-site at the company's Durham, North Carolina headquarters three days per week.
