Job Overview
The Department of Transportation of the State of North Carolina is seeking an Administrative Associate II (S) (position ) to serve as administrative support to the District I and Resident Engineers’ offices.
Responsibilities- Prepare documents and correspondence for projects.
- Enter documents, reports, and samples into Microsoft SharePoint and HICAMS.
- Process office purchasing and invoices.
- Answer calls, scan files and large plans, file and maintain records.
- Assist the public with requests via email, phone, walk‑in contacts, and other communication methods.
- Assist with processing materials for tickets, driveway permits, road additions/abandonments, and house moves.
- Effectively communicate technical knowledge with Engineers, coworkers, and the public.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including strong vocabulary and grammar for proofreading.
- General mathematical skills.
- Ability to schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings, and conferences.
- Computer literate with experience using modern word processing, spreadsheet, email, and internet software; ability to learn DOT applications such as SAP, Ariba, SharePoint, and Hicams.
- Customer service experience preferred, including resolving customer issues.
- Excellent composition, attention to detail, consistency with data entry and correspondence.
- Must work in an indoor environment and be willing to sit significant periods of time.
Grade NC02, $31,200 – $51,249.
Management Preferences- Customer service experience (including resolving customer issues).
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports.
- Experience reviewing detailed documents and records for accuracy and completeness.
- Experience with letter writing, correct spelling, punctuation, and proofreading.
High school or GED diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
