The Orange County Health Department has an opening for an Administrative Support II.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASSThe work is primarily responsible for high-level administrative support to the Health Director and the Deputy Health Director, ensuring the efficient operation of the Health Department's administrative functions. Primary responsibilities include managing and maintaining the Health Director's calendar; coordinating monthly leadership, management, interdepartmental, and external meetings; and organizing meetings with community organizations, governmental agencies, and professional associations. The position is responsible for preparing meeting materials, coordinating logistics, developing agendas, recording meeting minutes, and following up on action items as needed.
The position serves as the department's Human Resources liaison, maintaining confidential personnel records and files while supporting HR-related processes. It also coordinates and monitors departmental maintenance work orders and IT service requests to help ensure timely resolution and uninterrupted operations. In addition, this role occasionally serves as communication liaison between the Health Director and department staff, assisting with the dissemination of information and organizational updates.
The position also provides administrative support to other divisions within the Health Department, contributing to efficient operations and fostering collaboration across the organization.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Orange County Health Director with leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work and in making decisions public health needs and requests. Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in business or office administration or related degree and two (2) years of experience performing clerical/administrative functions and/or providing customer service.
An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience.

Experience working in local government and or with advisory boards is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSAll offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of a background check and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
Possession of or the ability to obtain a Notary Public certification within six (6) months.
