** Description of Work
** SALARY RANGE: $47,236.00 - $71,101.00 The Office of Indigent Defense Services (IDS) is seeking a reliable and professional individual to review and process attorney and expert payment requests and support daily office operations.
** Knowledge

** Duties include, but not limited to, the following:
* Process and audit capital, appeal, parent defender and post-conviction attorney and expert fee applications. Enter information into Access database with minimal errors. Meticulous attention to detail required. Strong mathematical skills are necessary to ensure accurate payment processing.
* Manage general email inbox where all fee applications are received; screen and organize for content, check for proper forms, receipts, time sheets, etc. Communicate effectively with attorneys and experts regarding missing, incorrect information, and/or IDS Rules and Policies. Provide excellent customer service and support.
* Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a professional and courteous manner. Handle incoming and outgoing office mail.
* Provide clerical and administrative support to IDS Director and other IDS staff.
This position reports to the Office Manager.
** Note**:
This position is located in downtown Durham, NC with the Office of Indigent Defense Services. This is a full-time 40-hour a week in-office position, Monday - Friday. Business Casual. Parking is not provided.
** Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
/ Competencies
**** Knowledge of**: general accounts payables principles, data entry, auditing invoices received for payment, office practices and procedures; legal terminology; and legal forms for orders and judgments.
** Skills in:
** Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat, answering a multi-line telephone system, excellent phone etiquette and verbal communication skills, operating computer, printer, and copiers.
** Ability to:
** learn and apply the IDS specific rules and billing policies regarding attorney and expert fee applications in capital, appeal and post-conviction cases. Independently manage high-volume documents and prioritize multiple tasks. Process financial transactions accurately, requiring strong mathematical skills and meticulous attention to detail. Have excellent oral and written communication skills, maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations. Ability to develop a general knowledge of the role and mission of the office and its relationship with other judicial offices;
and provide basic information and instructions regarding programs and office procedures. Ability to identify and understand issues and problems; ability to clearly explain office procedures and resolve issues for clients, staff and judicial partners.
