Position Overview

The Director of Development drives the strategic vision and execution of comprehensive fundraising efforts for the Department of Athletics while serving as a vital member of the Executive Leadership Team.

This position is responsible for leading the department’s comprehensive fundraising strategy and initiatives, including corporate sponsor ships, major gifts, events, and communication efforts to support the athletics program.

• Identify, cultivate, and solicit donor prospects to meet annual fundraising goals set with the Director of Athletics and Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement.
• Participate with the Office of Institutional Advancement in move management, prospect screening, and goal setting through regular meetings.
• Supervise Development & Corporate operations, undergraduate and graduate interns assigned to the Development Office.
• Serve as a member of the executive leadership team and senior staff of the Department of Athletics.
• Plan and implement all aspects of the major and annual gift program—including prospect management, events, communications, social media, and volunteer management—for 15 varsity sports.
• Collaborate with internal compliance teams, external NIL collectives, and athletic leadership to facilitate fundraising supporting student‑athlete Revenue Sharing, Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) initiatives.
• Educate donors and align fundraising strategies with emerging NIL programs and Revenue Sharing initiatives.

Proven skills in meeting goals for contributions, corporate sponsor ships and major gifts for an intercollegiate athletics program; outstanding oral and written communication skills; preferred experience using Raiser's Edge, ticketing system software, and Adobe software packages.

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree strongly preferred. Preference given to candidates with 3–5 years of frontline development experience in collegiate athletics or higher education advancement.
