General Summary

Duke Health is establishing a Digital Enablement Team to provide a durable through line from rapid innovation to value measurement, readiness assessment, scale decision, and transition to long‑term ownership. The Workflow Excellence Lead serves as an embedded performance‑excellence function, applying the Duke Quality System (DQS) and related improvement methodologies to assess current‑state operational and clinical workflows and design future‑state workflows enabled by advanced digital tools.

This role grounds recommendations in measurable quality, safety, experience, and efficiency outcomes.

Work Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

  • Ability to translate frontline workflow realities into standard work and measurable outcomes.
  • Clear, concise communication with the ability to align diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience partnering on digital or AI‑enabled workflow change preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Scrum, with experience contributing within sprint‑based delivery teams - partnering with product owners and developers across iterative cycles to refine and validate workflows.
  • Proficiency in process‑improvement methods (DQS, Lean Six Sigma) and workflow‑mapping tools.
  • Strong root‑cause and analytical skills that separate process problems from technology problems.
  • Facilitation skills with clinical and operational frontline teams.
  • Ability to define, baseline, and measure quality, safety, experience, and efficiency outcomes.
Education & Training

Work requires analytical and communications skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. If no bachelor's degree, four years of equivalent experience required. Formal process improvement training (DQS, Lean Six Sigma) preferred.

Experience

Related experience in clinical or operational process improvement within a health‑system setting, including exposure to Agile / sprint‑based delivery teams.
