The Project Integration Specialist, Operational Excellence will serve as a key operational connector across laboratory, engineering, software, quality, supply chain, and development teams to ensure successful coordination and implementation of operational initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and excels at translating operational needs into coordinated execution plans. This individual will help drive operational readiness, facilitate issue resolution, track dependencies, and ensure alignment across stakeholders supporting critical laboratory workflows.

This role works on-site full-time at our office located in Durham, NC

  • Cross-Functional Project Coordination

  • Coordinate operational projects and initiatives across NGS laboratory operations and partner functions

  • Facilitate communication and alignment between Operations, Engineering, Software, Quality, Product, and other stakeholders

  • Track project milestones, dependencies, risks, and deliverables to ensure timely execution

  • Operational Readiness & Integration

  • Support implementation and integration of new processes, systems, equipment, and workflow changes into laboratory operations

  • Assist with operational readiness planning, including documentation, training coordination, and change management activities

  • Ensure operational impacts and requirements are clearly communicated during project planning and execution

  • Issue Tracking & Escalation

  • Maintain centralized tracking of operational issues, improvement requests, risks, and action items

  • Coordinate follow-up activities and ensure accountability across teams

  • Escalate critical blockers or cross-functional conflicts when necessary

  • Process Documentation & Communication

  • Develop and maintain project documentation, status reports, meeting notes, SOP updates, and communication materials

  • Create clear operational workflows, timelines, and implementation plans

  • Support leadership reporting through dashboards, metrics, and progress summaries

  • Continuous Improvement Support

  • Identify opportunities to improve coordination, communication, and execution across operational programs

  • Support Lean and operational excellence initiatives related to workflow optimization and project execution

  • Contribute to post-implementation reviews and lessons learned activities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Operations, Project Management, or related field

  • 12+ years of experience in project management, operations, laboratory operations, or program support roles

  • Experience working in biotechnology, diagnostics, healthcare, laboratory, or regulated operational environments preferred

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate across diverse stakeholder groups

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet, Asana, , Confluence, Excel)

  • Experience supporting NGS laboratory operations or clinical laboratory environments

  • Familiarity with regulated environments including CLIA, CAP, FDA, or ISO standards

  • Exposure to operational process improvement or change management initiatives

  • Experience coordinating software, automation, or systems integration projects
