Wolfspeed is seeking a Commodity Manager (CM) to join the Business Support Services team within Procurement. This individual contributor position is a strong fit for an experienced indirect procurement professional who takes initiative, thrives on complexity, and moves work forward through influence rather than authority. The CM will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for procurement of Professional Services (PS), Consulting, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and Staff Augmentation, and will interact with a broad cross-section of the organization.
This individual will facilitate the supplier selection process, ensure alignment between supplier deliverables and business needs, and provide the structure and momentum that stakeholders rely on, including bringing clarity to engagements where the path forward requires definition.
Most work in this role begins with a request from the business: a need to address, a sourcing activity to manage, or a specific task to complete (e.g., onboarding a new supplier). The CM engages with the requesting stakeholder, draws on an understanding of Wolfspeed's needs and current market conditions, and drives the work to resolution. In parallel, the CM will approach the Professional Services commodity holistically to:
- Create sourcing strategies that address pain points and optimize the supply base for Wolfspeed.
- Identify strategic suppliers and cultivate relationships to position Wolfspeed as a preferred customer.
- Support compliance with procurement policies and processes, drawing on tools such as supplier scorecards, business reviews, and Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) methodology as appropriate.
- Identify and pursue cost avoidance and cost reduction opportunities in support of Wolfspeed's savings targets, tracking and communicating progress through established reporting methodology.
- Support a culture of procurement accountability across the organization, meeting stakeholders where they are while maintaining consistent expectations and standards.
Within the assigned commodities, the CM will own and manage the Requests for Information, Quote, or Proposal (RFI, RFQ, RFP, or collectively, RFX) process from start to finish. The CM serves as the primary facilitator across the full contract lifecycle for PS agreements, most commonly Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and Statements of Work (SOWs). This includes owning commercial terms review, proposing and negotiating revisions to benefit Wolfspeed, soliciting and integrating input from stakeholders and Legal, coordinating with suppliers, managing timelines, and overseeing renewals and expirations.
The successful CM brings a toolbox of communication skills that includes responsiveness, professionalism, accountability, clarity, relationship building, persuasion, empathy, and patience. In practice, this means:
