Job OverviewThe Construction Materials Technician is responsible for testing asphalt to ensure adherence to federal, state, and customer specifications. This position works with asphalt plant personnel, construction personnel, and governmental agencies.
Responsibilities- Perform asphalt testing and analysis
- Perform aggregate sampling and testing
- Perform density testing on asphalt pavements
- Complete governmental and customer reports for test results
- Communicate testing results to plant, construction personnel, and government agencies
- Investigate customer complaints regarding discrepancies between test results and asphalt received
- Other duties as assigned

- Strong attention to detail
- Good mathematical skills
- Knowledge of asphalt quality control processes
- Experience with asphalt lab equipment
- Knowledge of paving process
- Lifting asphalt samples +/- 50 lbs daily, occasionally up to 75 lbs
- Ability to stand / walk +/- 8 hours
- Construction setting
- Variable working hours
- Must be able to travel
- Must be able to work nights and weekends (shift differential)
- Must have reliable transportation (mileage reimbursement program included)
- ODOT Level 2 or Level 3 certification preferred but not required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
