Rohadfox is currently looking for an Office Engineer experienced supporting civil projects including road and bridge work. This position will support projects on the Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Blue Ridge Parkway, 2B-2H from MP 229.6 to MP 305.1. Project location:
The project work will be in McDowell, Mitchell and Yancey Counties, North Carolina. This project consists of slide repairs, culvert replacement, pavement reconstruction, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous work.
Work closely and cooperatively with the Construction Operations Engineer (COE) and Project Engineer (PE) to provide construction contract administration support on a highway construction project. Review Construction Contractor’s day-to-day work for compliance with the contract, safety plan, environmental controls, construction methods, and applicable laws and regulations. Review the construction schedule for compliance and reasonableness using Primavera or other software, maintain accurate construction contract records and follow established EFLHD records keeping processes.
Review contractor monthly invoices, material submittals, shop drawings, As‑Built drawings, contractor requests, and provide comments and/or recommendations to the PE. Review and recommend acceptance or rejection of daily reports submitted by the contractor. Process submittals from receipt through approval and return to the Construction Contractor. May be responsible for completing the Project Diary, Monthly Progress Estimate, Material Register, status reports, and ensuring project files are properly maintained and complete.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- EIT Certificate
- 4 years minimum experience in highway and bridge construction, including at least 1 year serving as Project or Resident Engineer, or Assistant Project or Resident Engineer on state or federal highway or bridge construction projects.
- Comprehensive understanding of highway engineering principles, construction methods, traffic control, environmental methods, surveying, equipment, trades, materials, schedules, and practices. Knowledge of the latest editions of the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design of Highway and Streets, ADA Standard for Accessible Design, and AASHTO Standard Specifications for Transportation Materials and Methods of Sampling and Testing.
- Ability to interpret project plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, regulations, submittals and detailed cost estimates.
- Extensive knowledge of construction contract administration and contract filing systems.
