Position Overview
Temporary administrative associate position (S Level) located at NC Commerce - Welcome Center, 3683 I-95 Southbound Hwy, Pleasant Hill, North Carolina. Hourly rate $15.00. Part‑time, up to 32 hours per month (8 hours per week), Monday‑Friday rotating shifts, weekend/holiday work required. No leave or retirement benefits. Eligible for HDHP health insurance if working 30 or more hours per week. Effective July 1, 2025.
Responsibilities- Greet visitors and answer questions about the State of North Carolina and its tourist facilities.
- Distribute information on attractions, events, accommodations, and highway routing.
- Make hotel and motel reservations for travelers.
- Maintain brochure display racks and back stock, and order new brochures as needed.
- Participate in familiarization tours and share experiences with other employees.
- Use available resources to satisfy visitor inquiries, including giving occasional presentations to schools or civic groups.
- Work part‑time hours (up to 32 hours per month, 8 hours per week) Monday‑Friday rotating shifts with weekend/holiday work.
- Limited overnight travel may be required.
- General knowledge of public relations, sales, and customer service principles.
- General knowledge of promotional and publicity media for tourism development.
- Ability to learn and communicate tourism information, including attractions, events, accommodations, recreational, historical, and geographic features of the state.
- Ability to use tools such as computers, Microsoft Office, and online search engines for customer service.
- Ability to read maps.
- Pleasant demeanor and effective communication with all people.
- Ability to compile and communicate information accurately.
- Ability to make group presentations.
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
