The Department of Surgery at the University of North Carolina seeks a board eligible/board certified full‑time academic cardiac surgeon to join our Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. This open‑rank academic appointment may be fixed term, tenure/tenure‑track, or variable track, commensurate with the candidate’s experience.

• Surgical management of heart failure, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, aortic and coronary artery surgery, and valvular disease.
• Provide a broad array of clinical services for adult cardiac surgery patients.
• Teach residents and students.
• Conduct research commensurate with academic rank.
• Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Engage in educational and quality initiatives such as clinical outcomes, quality and safety, health services, education, ethics, or informatics.

MD, board‑certified or board‑eligible cardiac surgeon with a minimum of 5 years clinical academic experience.

Team‑oriented, strong collaboration skills with colleagues inside and outside the Division.

The position is designated as a Campus Security Authority; duties include reporting Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and completing annual reporting training.
