Overview
The Roger Bacon Academy is an education management organization that manages multiple award-winning public charter schools in southeastern North Carolina including Classical Charter Schools of Southport near Southport, NC. We are always seeking outstanding applicants for future openings. We are looking for applicants to join our school who have a degree in Education with a heart to inspire young minds. This position is eligible for an additional Teacher Supplement in addition to the base pay.
Our Teachers are paid based on the North Carolina State Salary Scale for Bachelor's Degrees. We have a dedicated Beginning Teacher Coordinator and a staff of Academic Coaches to work alongside teachers to provide engaging ongoing training and support.
Our researched-based Direct Instruction curriculum begins with reading by phonics and writing with attention to penmanship, spelling, grammar, and style. Mathematics, science, music, and art also receive emphasis in the basics with examples and techniques from time-honored classical sources. The children gain a solid base of knowledge well-grounded in the intellectual, aesthetic, and moral traditions of western civilization.

Responsibilities- Deliver instruction using the Direct Instruction curriculum with emphasis on reading by phonics and writing with attention to penmanship, spelling, grammar, and style.
- Provide instruction and engage students in mathematics, science, music, and art, using time-honored examples and techniques to build foundational knowledge.
- Maintain high behavioral and academic standards and implement methods and support staff for managing behavior and ensuring academic success.
- Collaborate with the Beginning Teacher Coordinator and Academic Coaches to receive ongoing training and support and to continuously improve teaching practice.
- Contribute to an environment that fosters student growth, witness student transformations, and uphold the school’s mission and values.
- A Bachelor’s degree in education with valid teaching certificate from North Carolina or partnering state in the area for which candidate is applying.
- Experience teaching a group of diverse learners; physically demanding role requiring movement around the classroom and ongoing engagement with students.
- Coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis, Probability and Statistics, Algebra, and in the subject specialty departments are highly desirable.
