You will be the operational heartbeat of the A. James Clark Scholars Program (CSP) in the Pratt School of Engineering
, guiding a high‑impact, student‑facing portfolio that blends mentoring, academic excellence, leadership, service, and personal development. In this role, you will coordinate with the Director to lead the program end‑to‑end from admissions and Summer Bridge through cohort seminars, service learning, global experiences, alumni engagement, and budget management—to ensure Duke’s Clark Scholars thrive.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll mentor individual scholars, coordinate peer support, design and deliver engaging programming, and partner closely with faculty and campus collaborators. You’ll also serve as the face of the program across Duke and within the Clark Scholars Program Network (CSPN), building relationships with alumni, donors, and sponsors. You will report to the Director of the Clark Scholars Program and work closely with the Clark Scholars Program faculty team.
This is an ideal opportunity for a mission‑driven professional who loves working directly with students—especially first‑generation and limited‑income engineers—and who enjoys owning strategy, operations, and continuous improvement in equal measure.
Minimum Requirements- Education/Training: Generally requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or a related field (or equivalent general business background).
- Experience: 3+ years of related training and/or administrative experience, including familiarity with adult learning principles and the design/delivery of educational modules.
- OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Master’s degree preferred (e.g., Higher Education Administration, Education, Psychology, Engineering, or related). Background in student affairs, engineering education, or scholarship program administration strongly preferred.
- Experience in product management, software development, engineering, or computer science.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting diverse student populations, including first‑generation students.
- Knowledge of curriculum design, instruction, and assessment best practices.
- Experience with budget development, fiscal oversight, and financial management.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams, with flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends for programs and special events.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organization, planning, and time‑management with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack (or similar collaboration tools); familiarity with Linked In and other social platforms.
- Occasional evening/weekend commitments aligned to student programs, events, and sponsor/alumni engagements.
- Periodic travel to CSPN summits, conferences, and select external engagements.
- Lead comprehensive operations and administration for all CSP components, ensuring alignment with Duke Engineering’s mission and the CSPN framework.
- Direct the annual admissions and selection process; chair the review committee; oversee onboarding and orientation for each cohort, including curriculum design and delivery for Summer Bridge.
