Job Description SummaryThis position reports to the Coordinator of the TC for the management and operation of the TC labs, providing an open, efficient and professional lab environment for students enrolled at A‑B Tech. The primary focus of this position is the provision of quality tutoring and assistance to A‑B Tech students. The Science Tutoring Lab in the Tutoring Center provides tutoring and individual assistance to A‑B Tech students within the Education department.
Assistants assist students with acquiring the skills necessary to succeed in their coursework. Assistants work directly with the students in a fast‑paced, busy lab. Assistants provide tutoring to students of various abilities and backgrounds. Assistants supervise tutoring lab Aides and Peer Tutors. Assistants implement and enforce TC and A‑B Tech policies, procedures and guidelines while providing professional, helpful, and reliable assistance to students.
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with significant coursework in Education or Early Childhood.
- Excellent human relations skills.
- Patience and the ability to multi‑task.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Willingness to continue learning to keep up with the latest innovations and/or technologies.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to use a graphing calculator.
- Work experience in an educational lab environment.
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching or tutoring in a higher education setting.
- Familiarity with AB Tech’s campus and curriculum.
