Major Responsibilities Instructional Leadership
  • Manage the school’s instructional support team members who in turn work with teachers in their content areas to ensure high-quality teaching is happening in every classroom.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning by increasing staff understanding and implementation of effective instructional design and academic standards, while modeling ongoing professional growth and instructional leadership.
  • Provide ongoing support while coaching teachers to cultivate a healthy classroom and school culture, modeling an approach to learning that emphasizes risk-taking, respect, curiosity and constant commitment to meeting the needs of all students; while providing honest, actionable, and timely feedback that results in improved performance.
  • Build, monitor and maintain systems that improve organizational efficiency.
  • Partner with school leadership to ensure instructional practices align with the school's mission, vision, values, and academic goals.
Teacher Development
  • Support instructional coaches with creating detailed coaching plans, which include focused goals and measures of success, to drive professional learning cycles.
  • Support teachers’ achievement of goals by using coaching strategies that gradually release responsibility for implementing instructional practices to the teacher (e.g., co-planning, modeling, co-teaching, side-by-side coaching, and observing).
  • Consistently analyze teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis, and examination of student work.
  • Provide clear and direct feedback to teachers and leaders as needed, based on analysis of practice.
  • Track student and teacher progress to assess the effectiveness of coaching.
  • Develop teachers’ capacity to collect and analyze multiple sources of data to improve student learning.
Teacher Evaluation and Accountability
  • Serve as the school's lead administrator for teacher evaluation and instructional supervision.
  • Conduct all formal teacher observations and evaluations in accordance with state requirements and school policies.
  • Complete evaluation documentation, conferences, and professional growth plans in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Provide actionable feedback that supports continuous improvement and instructional practice.
  • Monitor teacher performance throughout the year and implement support plans for teachers requiring additional coaching or intervention.
  • Collaborate with school leadership regarding personnel recommendations, professional growth opportunities, and staffing decisions.
