Position: Child Care/ Preschool Teacher

WNCSource has an opening for a Head Start (3 to 5 years) or Infant Toddler Teacher (0 to 3 years) who will plan and implement learning experiences for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

Teacher Responsibilities
  • Engage in classroom activities and teach in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the WNCSource Head Start program, building and maintaining a positive, nurturing, and supportive relationship with the children and families.
  • Plan and implement learning experiences as part of the Head Start curriculum that address physical health and development, social and emotional development, approaches to learning, language development and communication, and cognitive development.
  • Create ongoing assessments of the growth and development of assigned children to form instruction and measure progress toward school readiness goals.
  • Partner with families to develop positive, open, relationship-based two-way communication using home visits, parent/teacher conferences and other communication tools.
  • Establish procedures to support successful transitions for enrolled children and families into and out of Early Head Start.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the classroom and on the playground.
Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Infant Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA), or Infant Toddler Care Certificate.
  • Preferred:
    Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or a related field.
