Job Overview

Assistant Director, Financial Aid (Position No. P0005293). Full‑time regular position located at South Campus. Salary: $56,160 – $64,584. Pay Grade 813.

Work Shift:

First Shift.

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday (including weekend variations). Hours per week: 40.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations and coordination of financial aid services, supervising Senior Advisors and part‑time staff at campus offices (~30%).
  • Provide guidance to staff advising students on financial aid programs, eligibility requirements, and application processes; analyze and evaluate eligibility (~20%).
  • Oversee staff training and application of new processes and procedures, ensuring accuracy and consistency (~15%).
  • Assist in development, supervision, and testing of interfaces between financial aid systems and internal systems such as CID, student records, credit and collections (~5% monthly).
  • Assist in writing, training, and implementing financial aid policies and procedures; support departmental problem‑solving (~10% biannually).
  • Provide recommendations on staff training needs related to computerized systems and federal financial aid regulations (~5% annually).
  • Oversee short‑ and long‑range financial aid planning, including customer service aspects (~5% as needed).
  • Interface with external systems (COD, Florida EFT, CPS, NSLDS, OSFA, DOE) and act as liaison between financial aid and other departments, community organizations, students, and parents.
  • Organize and present regional financial aid workshops and the annual Financial Aid Day for high‑school seniors and current students (~5% annually).
  • Attend and sometimes chair financial aid committees, represent the institution at relevant meetings (~5% annually).
  • Manage phone coverage, email inquiries, and delegate work to staff accordingly.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years of experience in financial aid processing, with at least three years in a supervisory or lead capacity.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills and Abilities
  • In‑depth knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs, including compliance with policies, legislation, and regulations.
  • Ability to work with diverse student and staff populations, resolve conflicts, coordinate interdepartmental projects, and engage outside agencies and auditors.
  • Knowledge of operational processes and procedures, workflow, and task flow.
  • Expertise in policy and procedure development and effective system‑testing scenario creation.
  • Ability to retrieve and synthesize data from multiple sources to develop solutions.
  • General understanding of institutional structure, policies, and practices, and their impact on Student Financial Services.
  • Proven expertise in executing operational plans, managing projects, budgeting, cost control, and delivery of results.
  • Strong managerial and team‑building skills, motivating and empowering direct and indirect reports.
  • Ability to partner across the institution and externally to collaborate, share resources, and negotiate mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Advanced technical skills for the functional area.
