TCE – Youth Program Education Assistant (Assistant Team Leader)
Locations: Salemburg, Sampson County & New London, Stanly County.
Job Overview: Serve as the primary mentor, advisor, counselor, and teacher for 16‑18 year‑old at‑risk youth during the residential phase of the Tarheel Challenge Academy. Responsible for supervising cadet activities, maintaining program standards, ensuring safety, and fostering a positive living environment.
- Conduct daily inspections of cadets and living quarters.
- Provide physical fitness instruction (marching, running, push‑ups, sit‑ups, calisthenics, prolonged standing).
- Supervise cadets during off‑site activities such as community service, job and college fairs, SAT testing, and training sessions.
- Identify, address, and correct inappropriate behaviors promptly.
- Document incidents, initiate counseling statements, and file incident reports as required.
- Brief colleagues on shift observations and maintain clear communication protocols.
Schedule: Rotating shifts: 6:00 am‑7:00 pm, 10:00 am‑11:00 pm, or 6:00 pm‑7:00 am. Approximately 16 days worked each month with off days, holidays, and weekends as outlined in the shift roster.
Compensation: State benefits, including paid vacation, paid sick leave, paid holidays, retirement, and health insurance. Recruitment Range: $36,159.00 – $54,237.00.
Qualifications: Minimum education and experience as per state guidelines. Management preferences and additional KSAs may be considered but are not required.
