Position Overview
Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Nutrition Sciences at North Carolina Central University (NCCU) will teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses in nutrition and dietetics through online instruction, advise students, supervise research projects, and engage in scholarly activities to meet tenure-track requirements.
Primary Responsibilities- Design and deliver three (3) graduate nutrition classes online asynchronous per semester or undergraduate synchronous courses as needed.
- Provide prompt responses to student questions and issues, offer timely feedback, and maintain academic standards.
- Conduct academic advising, mentoring, and office hours.
- Supervise and advise students on research projects, theses, or internships.
- Contribute to curriculum development and training opportunities for the Future Education Model Graduate Program.
- Serve on department committees and participate in university activities and community outreach.
- Engage in research, publish in peer-reviewed journals, present at professional conferences, and secure external funding.
- Prior achievements in teaching and research, with strong potential for scholarly activity.
- Experience in online teaching is preferred.
- Registered Dietitian or experience in the nutrition/dietetics field.
- Ability to teach courses such as Nutritional Biochemistry, Biostatistics, Sports Nutrition, Food Service and Management, Gerontological Nutrition, Weight Management, Obesity and Diabetes, Nutrition Education, Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition Therapy, and Food and Nutrition Research.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong technology skills for delivery of distance education courses.
- Doctorate (completed by date of appointment) in Nutrition or a related field from an accredited university.
- Preference for Registered Dietitian credential and/or extensive work experience in dietetics.
- Documented record of scholarly achievements and potential for grantsmanship and publication.
- Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) credential preferred.
