Overview
The MQM Program Coordinator supports the Master of Quantitative Management:
Business Analytics (MQM:BA) program and two additional one-year programs:
Master of Management Studies (MMS) and Master in Business, Climate, and Sustainability (MBCS). Responsibilities include planning and coordinating program-led events, serving as a point of contact for students, and providing periodic academic and student support. Evening and weekend availability may be required.
- Help plan, coordinate, and assist with social, co-curricular, and academic programming for students (e.g., orientation, graduation, Winterfest, Duke Chapel climbs, term events, socials, workshops, data competitions, guest speakers). Duties include room reservations, catering, supply orders, promotional materials, event setup, attendance tracking, and special guest coordination.
- Provide timely event overviews and communicate roles and responsibilities to staff.
- Monitor and evaluate event planning processes for both large and small events, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance student experience.
- Assist the student leadership association with event planning, idea generation, and policy knowledge.
- Supervise students during student‑led events and provide coaching on time management, class preparation, team dynamics, and other transition issues.
- Refer students to relevant staff for critical concerns and maintain resources for student engagement and support.
- Assist staff with testing accommodations and support students returning from leaves of absence.
- Monitor and respond to incoming student questions on a variety of topics (class schedules, insurance, visas, housing, safety, dining).
- Compile and distribute weekly newsletters, including calendar updates, promotion of resources, notifications of changes, and cultural, spiritual, and identity center resources.
- Notify students of academic team changes, review team charters, and provide feedback.
- Create and manage surveys to collect academic and non‑academic information, analyze results, and disseminate findings to staff.
- Collaborate with admissions, marketing, alumni relations, and career services departments to share knowledge and support student needs.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications
Education/Training: A bachelor's degree is required.
Experience: One year of experience in program administration, academic, instructional, or counseling activities that involves planning, coordinating, and implementing program activities and events.
Skills- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work professionally with graduate students, faculty, and staff.
- Empathy and ability to relate to students.
- Logical and reasoning skills to evaluate alternative solutions.
- Program evaluation skills, summarizing findings, communicating results, and developing action plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Experience with survey tools such as Qualtrics.
- Preferred: experience working with international students and teaching or working with English language learners.
Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, carry, sit, stand, stoop, reach, grasp, hear, and lift 50 lbs.
Anticipated Pay RangeDuke University offers an annual base salary range of USD 44,766.00 to USD 71,706.00, based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market considerations.
