Primary Function of Organizational UnitThe mission of the Department of Nutrition Sciences is to foster excellence in nutrition and dietetics education by empowering diverse undergraduate and graduate students through innovative learning experiences to prepare future nutrition professionals who use evidence‑based practices to enhance health and wellness across all populations.
Primary Purpose of PositionThe Lecturer will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, advise students, evaluate and grade assignments, provide timely feedback, and participate in departmental meetings and university activities. Presence on campus is required for student support and university events. Strong technology training and the ability to deliver distance education courses are required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesEffectiveness in teaching online undergraduate or graduate nutrition courses, especially in food service, food service management, and food science; ability to work with students with minimal complaints; work experience in dietetics with preferred experience as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN); commitment to the department and university mission; excellent oral and written communication; strong interpersonal and analytical skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively; proficiency with learning management systems such as CANVAS and technology‑integrated learning environments.
QualificationsThis position requires a Master’s degree in Nutrition or a related field; a Doctorate is strongly preferred. Credentialing as a Registered Dietitian is required. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate or graduate nutrition courses and strong technology skills for distance education are essential.

Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies InstructionalThe primary duties include teaching four synchronous online nutrition classes per semester, responding promptly to student questions and issues, providing academic advising, serving on departmental committees, recruiting, delivering lectures, seminars, tutorials, assessing student coursework, and maintaining office hours.
AdministrativeSupport accreditation and annual report initiatives, and collect and analyze assessment data for accreditation and continuing education requirements in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Public ServiceSupport department or university outreach efforts in the community and on‑campus.
