Overview

Keep Our Republic (KOR) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit civic education organization dedicated to preserving the integrity of the American electoral system. Our mission commits to the vitality of America’s democracy by promoting trust in elections, the rule of law, and constitutional checks and balances. KOR’s work includes public education campaigns, bipartisan coalition-building, original content production, and providing accurate, accessible information about the legal and administrative processes that safeguard our elections.

We collaborate with leaders across the political spectrum to promote transparency, accuracy, and civic trust. KOR will expand existing nonpartisan civic education operations occurring in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin into North Carolina. The work will aim to demystify election administration and raise awareness of the county-level safeguards in place to ensure free and fair elections, restoring local trust.

Position

Position Summary - Senior Advisor

Keep Our Republic is seeking a highly motivated and strategically minded Senior Advisor to lead and support its expansion into North Carolina. This mid-career, part-time consultancy is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of North Carolina’s political and legal landscape, particularly in the areas of election administration, governance, and civic engagement. The Senior Advisor will play a key leadership role in launching and guiding KOR’s presence in North Carolina, including building relationships with bipartisan leaders, engaging local communities, monitoring relevant policy developments, and supporting public education efforts.

Responsibilities

Initial Services

  • Establish a North Carolina Advisory Council:
Recruit and convene a bipartisan group of respected state leaders – such as former elected or appointed officials – committed to strengthening public confidence in democratic processes.
  • Develop a Strategic Roadmap (2026–2028):
In collaboration with KOR leadership, create a tailored action plan outlining high-impact opportunities for education, programming, and civic engagement in the state.

Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Policy and Legal Monitoring:
Track legislative, legal, and regulatory activities affecting elections in North Carolina. This will allow KOR to build its expertise and to explore ways in which KOR can publicly provide a nonpartisan perspective.
  • Public Programming:
Collaborate with the Advisory Council and KOR team to organize a robust calendar of public events aimed at educating citizens and stakeholders.
  • Relationship-Building:
Cultivate partnerships with county election officials, legal and civic organizations (e.g., bar associations, chambers of commerce, and like-minded nonprofits).
  • Media and Content Support:
Facilitate participation by local election administrators in KOR’s Keepers of the Republic podcast and other educational media opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Deep familiarity with North Carolina’s political, legal, and civic institutions
  • Demonstrated commitment to nonpartisanship and civic education
  • Experience working with senior-level stakeholders in government, law, or public policy
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently, think strategically, and execute projects
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly within North Carolina
  • Previous experience in public affairs, election law, policy research, or coalition-building preferred
Additional Information
  • This is a virtual position for a mid-career professional. While being based in North Carolina is preferred, not required, regular travel across the state is expected.
  • KOR is a nonpartisan civic education nonprofit. The successful applicant will be familiar with NC politics but not actively involved with a political party or campaign.
  • The successful candidate will be an independent contractor. Compensation is commensurate with experience and provided on a contract basis.
How to Apply

Please send a current resume, introductory letter, and three references to press. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and Linked In applicants will not be prioritized over email submissions. This opportunity is cross-posted.
