About the Role

The Coaching Manager leads a cohort of students and a team of Guides to deliver live workshops, daily motivation sessions, and individualized interventions. The role focuses on elevating the people who support students rather than developing curriculum or delivering lectures. The successful candidate will help create a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Facilitating one‑hour live workshops on life skills and social‑emotional learning (SEL) with K‑8 students covering topics such as public speaking and focus, following Alpha’s structured playbook.
  • Conducting daily motivation sessions designed to propel 100 % of students toward their weekly app objectives using age‑appropriate incentives, including school currency and leaderboards.
  • Developing Guides through observation, precise feedback, and direct development so they execute workshops with equivalent energy and accuracy.
  • Analyzing Coachbot analytics and student profiles to determine who requires intervention, then personally delivering that intervention.
  • Directly mentoring your assigned cohort of students, exemplifying the coaching and motivation techniques you expect from every Guide.
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum. Students engage with adaptive apps; your responsibility is elevating the people supporting them.
  • Delivering lectures before a classroom. You are an 80 % performer, 20 % content expert; if standing at a whiteboard was your goal, this role isn’t the fit.
  • Compromising standards due to pressure from parents or administrators. If a student achieves 99 %, the response is “not yet” – you will have institutional support to maintain that standard.
  • Spending time in an office processing documents. The majority of your day involves direct interaction with students and Guides.
  • Waiting weeks to receive performance feedback. Results appear live in Coachbot and adjustments occur immediately.

Key Responsibilities

Execute Alpha’s three promises throughout your cohort and among the Guides you lead: every child loves school, learns at 2 × speed, and develops genuine life skills.

Basic Requirements
  • Currently located in or prepared to relocate to one of the on‑site locations listed above (relocation assistance provided).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred; traditional teaching credentials are not required).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in education, learning and development, coaching, or a related area.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing educational programs, curricula, or training initiatives.
  • Proven history of managing a team of 5 or more individuals, including hiring and making performance‑based termination decisions.
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, or delivering constructive feedback to enhance engagement and performance.
  • Experience working with youth aged 5–14 in educational or developmental contexts.
  • Skilled in leveraging data and metrics to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Nice‑to‑have Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, or Business.
  • Experience as an athletic coach, camp director, or youth program leader where you directly motivated children to achieve measurable objectives.
  • Background coaching adults in positions where their performance was monitored and evaluated.
  • Confidence performing before large groups of children, with the presence that commands attention in a room of 8‑year‑olds.
Benefits & Compensation

This is a full‑time (40 hours per week) contractor position. You will receive $100 USD per hour, equating to $200,000 USD per year based on 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. Compensation is paid weekly. Health, dental, and vision coverage begins day one, and relocation assistance is available for qualifying candidates.
