Position: Program Coordinator, Hart Leadership Program (HLP), Sanford School of Public Policy

Duke University’s Hart Leadership Program seeks a Program Coordinator to manage experiential education programs, student advising, community engagement, research support, and co‑curricular design.

Reporting to the Director and working closely with staff, faculty, and students, the Program Coordinator plays a key role in shaping the future of the Hart Leadership Program.

What You’ll Do Hart Fellowship (45%)
  • Design and implement all aspects of the fellowship experience in partnership with faculty
  • Coordinate recruitment, application, and selection processes
  • Plan and lead orientation, retreats, and monthly seminars
  • Advise and mentor fellows on research, project development, and placements
  • Manage logistics including stipends, travel, visas, and housing
  • Track assignments and represent the program to partners
LAPI & PEP Programs (45%)
  • Coordinate recruitment, application, and selection processes
  • Collaborate with colleagues on program design and development
  • Advise students on research design, project development, and logistics
  • Oversee operational logistics such as travel, stipends, and documentation
  • Track student outcomes and lead reflection activities
Across All Programs (10%)
  • Maintain program manuals and ensure accurate recordkeeping
  • Ensure consistent administration of policies
  • Lead annual program reviews and improvements
  • Support donor stewardship and events
  • Build relationships across campus and community partners
What You’ll Bring

Minimum Qualifications
  • One year of experience in program administration or related academic, instructional, or counseling activities
  • OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Additional Qualities and Attributes
  • Experience in a student‑facing role, preferably in advising or program coordination
  • Experience working with nonprofits, NGOs, public agencies, or community‑based organizations
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and project management skills
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, including confidence in public speaking
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with faculty, students, staff, alumni, and internal and external constituents
  • High motivation and ability to manage multiple projects under pressure
  • Eagerness to collaborate with a team and share work and credit
  • Interest in the Hart Leadership Program and ability to articulate its mission and values
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, Access, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and Word Press
Preferred
  • Knowledge of civic engagement, experiential education, or leadership development
  • Familiarity with the Duke University community
Anticipated Pay Range

USD $44,766.00 to USD $71,706.00 per year.
