North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is a historically Black university located in Durham, North Carolina. This Clinical Faculty position supports the Inclusive Postsecondary Education (IPSE) program by designing and evaluating inclusive learning opportunities for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role focuses on curriculum development, course instruction, and collaboration with university staff and community partners to enhance student success.
Primary Purpose of PositionThe Clinical Faculty is responsible for:
- Designing inclusive curriculum that integrates core academic content with learning opportunities for students with diverse learning needs.
- Developing academic success strategies that build student independence and enable navigation of the curriculum.
- Providing academic advisement and instruction for both on‑campus and online courses.
- Contributing to the instructional quality and overall success of the Educational Opportunities Program within the School of Education.
- Deliver high‑quality instruction for on‑campus and online courses, incorporating specialized strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
- Support students through dedicated academic advisement and guidance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess and improve instructional practices.
- Teach courses as required to meet programmatic needs and uphold the conceptual framework of the School of Education.
- Knowledge of inclusive postsecondary education models and transition‑to‑adulthood frameworks.
- Experience with curriculum design, assessment, and non‑traditional instructional models.
- Ability to work effectively in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to equity, access, and inclusive excellence in higher education.
- Doctoral degree in Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with and serving students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
- Success in leading administrative tasks, project and team management, and communication.
- License or certification in related area(s) is preferred.
