Primary Purpose of PositionInvite candidates to apply for a tenure‑track faculty position (Assistant or Associate level) in conjunction with the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Department (BBSD). The ideal candidate will establish an extramurally funded research program in their area of specialization that supports research in the Julius L. Chambers Biomedical/Biotechnology Research Institute (JLC‑BBRI) and provides training opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students. In addition to research, the candidate will excel as an educator teaching core and elective courses in biological and biomedical sciences to undergraduate and graduate students and participate in institute, departmental, college, and university service as well as professional service.
RequiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent research and analytical skills with at least 3 years postdoctoral experience, publication record, and grant writing skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, working both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong knowledge base in biology, cell biology, molecular biology, and/or biological chemistry.
- Appropriate teaching experience in university biology courses, especially in cell biology, molecular biology, and biological chemistry.
- Teach core and elective courses in biological and biomedical sciences to undergraduate and graduate students.
- Establish and maintain an extramurally funded research program that supports research at JLC‑BBRI and provides training opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.
- Provide academic and career advising to students.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees as appropriate and engage in public service within professional societies.
Earned doctoral degree in biological sciences or a related discipline with at least three years of postdoctoral experience.
