Kindergarten Teacher

Durham Academy is accepting applications for a permanent full-time Kindergarten teacher to begin

November 12, 2026.The Preschool serves approximately 100 students in grades Pre-K and Kindergarten. Our Preschool classrooms have 18 students with a lead classroom teacher and a teaching assistant.

This position reports to the Preschool Director.

• Setting learning goals and planning developmentally appropriate and engaging lessons
• Preparing instructional materials
• Leading whole and small group instruction and providing intervention, as needed
• Assessing student performance and growth
• Maintaining communication with families
• Carrying out required supervisory duties
• Performing other duties as requested by the division director

• A bachelor’s degree (preferably in education)
• At least three years of teaching experience in an early childhood classroom
• Experience working with children in an educational environment
• A demonstrated commitment to professional growth, collaboration and collegiality
• A passion and love for meeting the social and academic needs of Preschool students

• Possess a command of pedagogical best practices, eagerly seek feedback on all aspects of their professional life, and are committed to lifelong professional growth.

• Participate actively in the life of the school beyond the classroom.

• Innovate and experiment to discover the most compelling learning experiences for students.
