DepartmentThe Department of Language and Literature at North Carolina Central University engages students in languages, cultures, literatures, linguistics, and writing. It fosters analytical and creative thinking, problem‑solving abilities, and communication strategies to prepare students for civic and professional life. The department provides courses in English, foreign languages, humanities, and philosophy and houses degree programs in English, Spanish, and interdisciplinary studies.
Primary PurposeTo teach 1‑3 sections of English Composition I and/or II per semester and hold 4‑8 office hours per week.
Responsibilities- Teach English Composition I and II courses in a face‑to‑face and/or online format.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and grades.
- Hold 4‑8 office hours per week to support students.
- Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching in face‑to‑face and/or online formats.
- Familiarity with Canvas or other LMS platforms.
- M.A. in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or a related field with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework.
- Two years of relevant teaching experience at the college/university level.
