English Language Learners (ELL) Paraprofessional at North Oak Academy Job Description

This position is full-time, 35 hours per week.

Located in Durham, North Carolina, North Oak Academy is opened as part of the National Heritage Academies network of schools. • Assess English Language Learner student abilities and provide academic intervention to scholars who are eligible for language support services in either 1:1 or group workshops as directed by the classroom teacher and academic intervention team.
• Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
• Attend professional development and articulation meetings with classroom teachers and parents as required.

Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.

State requirements are referenced in the official guidance for paraprofessionals.

• Previous experience working with English as a second language students or with school-aged children, preferred.
• Ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and/or mathematics.
• Aptitude to understand and navigate technical systems.
