Primary Function of Organizational UnitThe mission of the Department of Language and Literature at North Carolina Central University is to engage students in languages, cultures, literatures, linguistics, and writing. We foster students’ analytical and creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and communication strategies to prepare students for their responsibilities in civic and professional life. The Department of Language and Literature is responsible for teaching GEC courses in English, Foreign Languages, Humanities, and Philosophy.
The department also houses degree programs in English, Spanish, and Interdisciplinary Studies.
To teach 1-3 sections of English Composition I and/or II per semester
To hold 4-8 office hours per week
Required Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesDemonstrated potential for excellence in teaching in face-to-face and/or online formats.
Familiarity with Canvas or other LMS platforms.
Minimum Education /ExperienceM.A. in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or a related field with a minimum of 18 hours graduate coursework in the field.
Two years of relevant teaching experience at the college/university level.
