Milk Education is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Primary Intervention Assistant to work across welcoming schools in Durham
.
You’ll support pupils who need that extra bit of time, encouragement and attention to close learning gaps and build their confidence.
From helping a child crack their phonics to finally understanding a tricky maths problem, you’ll be there to make those “I’ve got it!” moments happen.
This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, tutors, experienced Teaching Assistants or anyone with a background supporting children
.
- Supporting reading and phonics interventions
. - Helping pupils develop their writing, spelling and literacy skills.
- Supporting maths catch-up sessions.
- Delivering engaging 1:1 and small-group activities
. - Helping pupils close gaps in their learning.
- Building confidence and encouraging children to keep trying.
- Adapting activities to suit different abilities and learning styles.
- Tracking progress and celebrating achievements.
- Working alongside teachers to support pupil development.
- Loves seeing children make progress and achieve something they once found difficult
. - Is patient, encouraging and positive.
- Can make learning feel fun rather than frustrating
. - Is confident working with individuals and small groups.
- Has experience in tutoring, education, childcare, nursery or youth work —
desirable but not essential
. - Is a graduate, aspiring teacher or someone with volunteering/placement experience working with children.
- Is reliable, adaptable and ready to get stuck in.
- Has a genuine passion for helping children reach their potential.

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience, and the requirements of the assignment.
