Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position

The Duke University Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology invites applications for a junior tenure-track faculty position. We welcome applications from all fields of biochemistry and cell biology. Applicants whose research program studies significant biological questions at the cusp of biochemistry and cell biology by leveraging in vivo and quantitative approaches and state-of-the art techniques such as CryoET are especially encouraged.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a track record of creativity and productivity, show potential for outstanding future achievements, and have a strong desire to integrate into Duke's collaborative and expanding research community. Responsibilities include developing a productive and innovative research program, securing external funding, and actively participating in graduate and post-graduate training and mentorship. The department has an exceptional history in biomedical research innovation that includes two Nobel Laureates, HHMI investigators, and National Academy Members.

Strengths include structural biology, enzymology & biophysics, genomics, quantitative biology (Q-Bio), developmental biology, neuroscience, and AI-Bio research programs.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in a biomedical research field relevant to this search. The application package should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a three-page statement of research (organized as a one-page summary of past research accomplishments and a two-page summary of your future research plans), a half-page statement of mentoring philosophy, a half-page statement of how you envision collaborating with current faculty, and 3 letters of recommendation.

Please note that Duke specifically seeks information about past misconduct or policy violations (in the past ten (10) years) and/or relevant pending investigations as part of the application process. Disclosures will not be an automatic bar to hiring but, instead, will initiate further dialogue regarding past actions and steps taken to address them. Disclosures will not be shared with search committees during the application review process.

Duke University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
