Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Education, Science, English, Mathematics, or a related field

    • At least2years of professional work experience with a background in healthcare education or nursing programs
    • Experience teaching TEAS or similar standardized test prep courses
    • Prior teaching, tutoring, or test preparation experience

Position Description

Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring an Adjunct Instructor in the Health and Wellness Department. The Adjunct Instructor will provide high-quality instruction for students preparing to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). This part-time role focuses on strengthening students' knowledge and test-taking strategies in reading, mathematics, science, and English/language usage. The instructor will create an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes student success and confidence.

The position is vital for the growth and compliance of our CE offerings and support of our students completing CE credentials.

The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and records management. The instructor will work closely with the program Director or Coordinator on matters related to and for the benefit of the TEAS Test Prep Course and its students.

Examples of Duties
  • Teach all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
  • Deliver structured TEAS test preparation instruction in alignment with current exam standards.
  • Be fully prepared with a syllabus and instructional plans for each class session in accordance with the stated objectives of the course.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans covering all TEAS subject areas:
    Reading, Math, Science, and English/Language Usage.
  • Provide test-taking strategies, time management techniques, and practice assessments.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support improvement.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and performance records.
  • Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs and foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment.
  • Stay current with TEAS exam updates, best practices in test preparation, and developments in the field of instruction.
  • Enforce academic policies and procedures and comply with institutional rules and regulations.
  • Maintain complete course and student records, reports, and forms.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, organized, submission of paperwork timely and have ability to juggle multiple priorities in a very busy educational/training department with excellent interpersonal skills.
