Primary Purpose of Position

The Director of Legal Writing provides academic and administrative leadership for the School of Law’s legal writing program. The Director assist with the development, coordination, and assessment of the legal writing curriculum and supports faculty in delivering a rigorous and consistent program. The position advances the School of Law’s commitment to student success, bar readiness, and practice preparation by strengthening students’ legal analysis, research, writing, and professional communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

This is posting for a Legal Writing Director in the School of Law beginning in FY 27-28. The Legal Writing Director will teach various courses within the legal writing curriculum and any other courses in the Law program as assigned. The Legal Writing Director will be paid an annual salary. The Legal Writing Director will be responsible for holding office hours that correspond to the course hours taught.

  • 1.Expertise in subject matter hired to teach
  • 2. Ability to design and teach courses at the J.D. level
  • 3. Excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • 4. Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • 5. Basic computer skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or similar software
