Target Start Date Expected Work HoursA minimum of 40-hour work week as determined with the supervisor to allow the employee to fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities, including occasional evening and weekend hours. Summer schedules may vary to enable four-day or four-and-one-half-day work weeks. This position is a twelve (12) month position. As a 12-month employee classified as Program Coordinator or Chair, the expectation continues to be 9-12 contact hours per academic semester (Fall, Spring and Summer).

Minimum QualificationsThe minimum requirements for the position are that the coordinator/instructor holds a minimum of an associate’s degree in either one of the extension program areas – HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical Systems Technology or a bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy or in a related field.
- The instructor must have at least two years of relevant work experience
- two years of teaching/training experience in industry, secondary, or post-secondary settings within the extended program areas.
- A minimum of three years of current continuing education or curriculum program supervision, with the ability to supervise full-time professional staff/faculty in a diverse and collegial environment is highly preferred.
Spanish – language instruction

Do Great Thing! Durham Technical Community College is hiring a Coordinator/Instructor of Skilled Trades in the Building, Engineering & Skilled Trades program. The Coordinator/Instructor, Skilled Trades provides leadership, administration, and instructional support for programs within the Building, Engineering & Skilled Trades (BEST) Pathway at the Orange County Campus (OCC) extension, including HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical Systems. This position oversees program operations and strategic initiatives by planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating program activities, personnel, equipment, and services;
managing cross-functional projects; coordinating course schedules; facilitating communication among stakeholders; and ensuring timely completion of program goals. Working closely with the Dean, the Coordinator/Instructor supports program development, continuous improvement, and student success while maintaining alignment with departmental and college strategic priorities. As needed, the incumbent also develops and teaches courses within the skilled trades programs and must possess strong knowledge of industry standards and practices related to HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical Systems.
