SolidWorks Mechanical Intern: Hardware Design & Prototyping

Fall 2026 Internship:
This position is located at our HQ in Durham, NC. Expected program dates are September 14 - December
4. Anticipated working hours will be about 20 per week. Final hours and schedule will be determined between the intern and their manager.

• Assure that new equipment will safely comply with performance criteria for use with computer software programs and make any necessary hardware modifications to fix mistakes and other issues.
• Work with interdisciplinary design teams, such as those for hardware, mechanical, and software
• Design new hardware using Solid Works
• Practical experience with a variety of hardware devices.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Self-driven with exceptional analytical and critiquing skills
• Strong ability to solve problems
• Attention to detail
• Ability to function a member of a small team.
• Practical experience with a variety of hardware devices

• Work with team to create/modify designs for parts and assemblies
• Work with team to update part drawings or specifications
• Work with team on defects that arise from the design
• Assist in building prototypes or early units
• Learn about how our products go from an idea to a fully-fledged product
• Perform other tasks as assigned

The candidate will be working on drawings and designs for a next generation point of sale product.

This role involves hands on designing using Solid Works.
