We are seeking a Bridge Project Engineer to join our Civil Engineering team. This role involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary design teams to develop innovative and technically sound solutions that meet project requirements and applicable design codes.
The ideal candidate will have experience in transportation structures, including the design of new structures as well as the inspection, evaluation, and rehabilitation of existing structures. Project work may include a wide variety of structure types, foundation systems, and materials, with a preference for experience on state DOT and toll authority projects.
General Responsibilities
- Design of transportation structures, including:
- Highway bridges
- Retaining walls
- Box culverts
- Prepare structural analysis and design calculations in accordance with applicable design codes, utilizing appropriate engineering software
- Prepare technical reports, contract plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
- Perform on-site structural inspections, analysis, and condition assessments of existing structures
- Support construction administration activities, including review of shop drawings and responses to Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Mentor junior engineering staff in technical development and project execution
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on Structural Engineering
- Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred, or actively pursuing licensure with anticipated completion within two years
- Minimum of 5+ years of successful project experience within a consulting engineering environment
- Strong expertise in bridge design principles and bridge inspection practices
- Demonstrated technical leadership with experience in:
- Contract administration
- Budget and cost control
- Proficiency with Micro Station and structural analysis / finite element modeling software
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Experience working with clients, contractors, and vendors
- Proven ability to support multiple concurrent projects
- Familiarity with state Department of Transportation design standards, procedures, and specifications preferred
