Engineering Technologist

Description

We are seeking an Engineering Technologist to join our diverse and fast-paced organization.

As a core team member, you will be interacting with other electric utility disciplines, performing engineering design work and calculations. You’ll be coordinating with permit agencies, right‑of‑way specialists, system owners, and field leaders. You will provide and ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met, as well as conduct root‑cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.

You’ll engage with technical design and Client standards, ensuring quality and timeliness of design deliverables for Leidos utility clients.

Additionally, you will be asked to transfer over design details to the Leidos in‑house WMS platform from the client’s WMS platform to be used by the design teams.

This role requires an individual to travel up to 75% of the time.

• Review work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.
• Create work orders in client software platform.
• Perform Cost Management.
• When intake traffic is low, perform QA/QC work, which may include engineering calculations such as structural analysis for wood pole loading, guying calculations, specifying conductor sags and tensions for recommended spans, and calculation of voltage drop and flicker.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
• Provide engineering support during construction, including post‑construction reviews to ensure all applicable engineering and construction standards have been met.
• Travel to sites as needed, perform inspections, and return to the office to perform engineering design work.

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 0–1 years of related experience, Associates Degree or higher in engineering technology or related preferred.
• Basic knowledge of engineering practices.
• Focus on safety.
• Attention to details.
• Willingness to perform duties at the office in a hybrid environment.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel, field work, and ability to utilize personal vehicle during Storm Duty assignments and Site Visits.
• Valid US Driver’s License.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

$35,100.00 – $63,450.00
