Summary

Cormetech is seeking a Manufacturing Equipment & Reliability Engineer to improve equipment performance, uptime, and maintainability in a manufacturing environment. This role provides hands‑on support for equipment troubleshooting, upgrades, and new equipment installation/commissioning, and leads reliability initiatives such as condition monitoring.

Essential Duties
  • Support installation, commissioning, and optimization of manufacturing equipment and systems, including material handling, automated/assisted handling solutions, and inspection systems
  • Partner with turnkey equipment suppliers and system integrators to define requirements, acceptance criteria, deliverables, and commissioning plans; support debugging during startup, manage punch lists, coordinate issue resolution, and verify performance to ensure suppliers meet scope and outcomes
  • Assist with specification development for new equipment purchases and upgrades (user requirements, capacity targets, utility needs, layouts, safety requirements); support procurement activities and vendor communication as needed
  • Lead or support reliability improvement initiatives to reduce unplanned downtime, including:
    • Site‑wide deployment of condition monitoring (vibration and temperature monitoring) on critical assets
    • Establishing standards for sensor placement, data collection, alarm limits, review cadence, and escalation workflows
    • Improving lubrication and oil sampling programs (sampling standards, tracking, trending, action thresholds, and follow‑up actions)
  • Analyze equipment performance and reliability data (downtime, failure modes, repeat issues) and translate findings into actionable improvements, PM updates, and standard work
  • Support design, fabrication, and qualification of critical equipment components and tooling through external vendors as needed (requirements, reviews, testing/qualification, documentation)
  • Ensure equipment changes and improvements are properly documented, including SOPs, work instructions, PM procedures, training materials, and relevant drawings or records
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, Chemical, Materials, Ceramics) or equivalent experience
  • 1-7+ years supporting manufacturing equipment (troubleshooting, installs/commissioning, maintenance/reliability projects); internships/co‑ops considered
  • Strong hands‑on mechanical aptitude and structured problem‑solving / root cause skills
  • Ability to run equipment trials, analyze basic data/trends, and turn findings into actions/standard work
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience supporting vendor/integrator‑led equipment upgrades and startups (debugging, punch lists, acceptance testing)
  • Exposure to reliability / predictive maintenance tools (condition monitoring, vibration/temperature trending, lubrication/oil analysis, CMMS)
  • Familiarity with material handling, inspection concepts (e.g., vision/automated inspection), and packaging/converting equipment
  • Working knowledge of SPC/DOE or statistical tools (Minitab a plus)

Physical Requirements
  • Manufacturing environment with periodic exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variation. Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs. occasionally; frequent standing/walking/bending; computer work as needed. Ability to lift push, pull, and carry 25 pounds occasionally
