Quality Engineer Manager Responsibilities
Apply mechanical knowledge to understand product operation and manufacturing processes and use this understanding to prevent and resolve quality issues.
Identify quality issues quickly on the production floor and implement effective short-term and long-term countermeasures.
Detect weak points in supplier processes and incoming materials to prevent defects from reaching production.
Monitor supplier performance using defined quality measures and coordinate support with supplier representatives to address issues.
Assist suppliers with process improvements and corrective actions to enhance quality, reliability, and consistency of incoming components.
Evaluate tooling capability, identify gaps, and drive improvements to ensure tooling supports stable and capable processes.
Lead and facilitate process-focused meetings to define quality measures, analyze performance, and agree on corrective and preventive actions.
Support and participate in PPR evaluations to review performance, define improvement actions, and track progress.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, and development of quality team members and support workforce systems used for coordination and scheduling.
Lead teams effectively regardless of prior industry or experience, providing clear direction, coaching, and support.
Collaborate closely with production, engineering, tooling, and supplier teams to drive cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement.
Implement and oversee rapid countermeasure processes to contain and resolve quality issues in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, process capability, and supplier performance.
Proven experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment, including rapid countermeasure implementation.
Strong mechanical and process knowledge applied to high-volume or complex manufacturing operations.
Experience with supplier quality, including monitoring supplier performance and driving corrective actions.
Ability to evaluate tooling capability and identify opportunities for improvement.
Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in automotive or powersports manufacturing is preferred.
Experience working in high-volume or technically complex manufacturing environments.
Knowledge and practical use of PPAP and related quality engineering methodologies.
Experience supplier quality management, process improvement, and performance tracking.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Durham, NC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
