Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineering Manager to join Penske Technology Group (PTG), a subsidiary of Team Penske. PTG is a cutting‑edge R&D center equipped with advanced test equipment, including a wind tunnel and a 7‑post vehicle dynamics rig. We handle special projects for the race teams and are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and performance.
Responsibilities- Lead and mentor a small team of engineers, including a designer and 2 test engineers.
- Collaborate closely with our team aerodynamicist and customers' aerodynamicists to plan, execute, and optimize wind tunnel tests and strategies, ensuring all tests meet the highest standards of precision and effectiveness.
- Ensure all test equipment, including the wind tunnel and 7-post rig, is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Oversee the development and refinement of current testing procedures to guarantee accurate and reliable results.
- Regularly meet with our racing series engineering teams to provide support as needed.
- Work with the Technician Team Lead to schedule technician testing support.
- Drive innovation and improve operational efficiency within the team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
- Previous engineering experience (3-5 years) required.
- Knowledge of wind tunnel testing methods required.
- Experience with MATLAB and Siemens NX preferred.
- Familiarity with 7-post testing methods preferred.
- Experience with data acquisition and test automation software preferred.
- Knowledge of testing strategies and procedures required.
- Interest in leadership and team mentorship preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving skills preferred.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the automotive or motorsports industry is a plus.
- Strong technical background with hands‑on experience in maintaining and calibrating test equipment.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to achieve common goals.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
