Job Summary
Facilities Environmental Compliance Program Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for owning and continuously advancing the environmental compliance program across Power Secure’s growing portfolio of manufacturing sites (Durham DI campuses, Power Fab, Ball Ground, Waco Warehouse, and future expansions). This position provides direct supervision of the Facilities Environmental Compliance Team and serves as the company’s primary authority on all facility‑related environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
The successful candidate will proactively lead facility permitting and compliance efforts, anticipate regulatory impacts of rapid business growth, and drive measurable program improvements while managing people, consultants, and budgets in a fast‑paced environment. Additional responsibilities include delivering accurate Southern Company corporate reporting, coordinating data requests, and supporting manufacturing‑related environmental initiatives.
Success in this role requires strategic foresight, full ownership of facility environmental programs, proven team leadership, building and maintaining strong internal and external partner relationships, demonstrating and promoting a culture of compliance, and the ability to operate with a confident and credible presence in a dynamic, high‑visibility setting.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, environmental science, or another relevant scientific discipline; an advanced degree in engineering or environmental science/management is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years managing facility environmental compliance programs and permitting for multi‑site, multi‑state manufacturing operations.
- Ability to effectively manage direct reports and consultants.
- Prior experience in industrial, manufacturing, or energy industries is required.
- Ability to read and interpret regulatory requirements for permitting and facility compliance.
- Ability to write, complete, and submit permit applications to regulatory agencies, working across business functions to finish applications and submittals in a timely manner.
- Ability to conduct training and other presentations to a wide variety of internal and external audiences.
- Ability to convey status and elevate compliance and permitting matters to upper management.
- Basic computer skills (Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Work experience or demonstrated understanding of air, water, and waste environmental regulatory compliance is required—including air compliance, tank compliance, SPCC plans and spill response, hazardous and non‑hazardous waste management, wastewater and stormwater management, drinking water, SWPPP, Tier II, and GHG reporting.
- Experience working with environmental consulting firms and/or regulatory/governmental agencies is preferred.
- Preferred experience with manufacturing facility operations and maintenance, environmental monitoring and reporting, and environmental event response.
- Preferred experience in the implementation and management of process water or wastewater chemistry programs or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience working under facility O&M and capital budgetary constraints.

- Candidate must currently live within commutable distance to our office in Durham. We will not relocate or review candidates that need relocation.
- Own and steward the environmental compliance program focused on continuous improvement, scalability, and audit/inspection readiness across all Power Secure manufacturing and warehouse sites, ensuring 100% adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
