Job DescriptionMACOM is looking for a Senior RF MMIC Test Engineer to play a critical role in characterization and screening of high power, high frequency GaN MMICs. You will perform on‑wafer screening and new product test evaluation on a side array of HPA, Switch, and Multi‑function MMICs designed by MACOM’s industry‑leading design team as well as external customers through our foundry service.
This role requires experience in the test of RF MMIC circuits. Specifically, you will be performing on‑wafer probe testing of MACOM prototype circuits, low‑rate production circuits, and foundry designs from external customers across a wide range of power levels, frequencies, and applications. You will provide data analysis and reporting on the results. This role in a high‑mix lab where test stand reconfiguration is common, and you will be responsible for the setup, verification and tear down of test stands in order to accommodate a steady and varied flow products.
This job is located at our Durham, NC location.
Come help drive RF test and characterization on state‑of‑the‑art, high power GaN MMICs and help lead MACOM in its next chapter of technology leadership and excellence.
Key Responsibilities- On‑wafer testing of GaN MMICs, including HPAs, switches, multi‑function chips, and others as they may arise. These are high power, high frequency MMICs and require careful setup and attention.
- Independently configure, calibrate and verify test setups to ensure accurate, repeatable measurements.
- Support designers with probe and test material design and procurement to facilitate testing.
- Work closely with the design team and operations to ensure a quick flow through testing and facilitate rapid delivery of tested circuits.
- Develop and debug test software when necessary to support new and unique test requests, new equipment, and improved data analysis, visualization and processing within the test lab.
- Occasionally perform package level testing as required. Specific test needs and techniques are similar to those performed on‑wafer.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in test and evaluation of RF, microwave, and millimeter wave MMICs, both at on‑wafer and package level.
- Familiarity with PNAx or similar vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, noise figure analyzers, power meters, bias supplies and other RF test equipment.
- Proficient in the setup, configuration, calibration, and performance of RF MMIC tests, including S‑parameters, power, efficiency, linearity, stability, and noise figure.
- Broad exposure to various RF technology and circuit types. A strong emphasis on high power, high frequency circuits using GaN technology is preferred.
- Ability to understand, write and debug test software. Familiarity with C# and Python preferred. Should be familiar with Git…
