Electrical Engineer, Durham, North Carolina

Job Overview

As a senior member of the electrical engineering team, you will collaborate with multi‑functional teams to design, prototype, build, verify, validate, and certify new robotic products or improve existing ones within BD’s Pharmacy Automation portfolio.

• Work collaboratively with multi‑functional teams to complete critical improvements or net new robotic product designs from concept to production.
• Support the global R&D technical team on multiple projects in parallel.
• Actively work to improve the quality and reliability of current and future products within the Pharmacy Automation portfolio by applying theoretical and hands‑on electrical support to identify problems and deliver robust solutions.
• Provide electrical solutions for changes to existing products, including: design test setups for manufacturing, write test applications, develop tools for system diagnostics and monitoring capabilities, and provide support for existing board designs.
• Create, update, and release technical documentation to support the electrical aspects of the systems being developed.
• Provide electrical support for ongoing regulatory certification efforts for multiple product lines.

• Demonstrated knowledge with motion control, AC power electronics, motors and controls, sensors, servo systems, and embedded control systems.
• Proficiency with Lab View and/or Lab Windows/CVI software to develop and support test automation.
• Familiarity with the Altium PCB development environment or similar EE design package for schematic capture, board layout, manufacturing files, and documentation for PCBA development.
• System‑level electrical architecture experience is a must.
• Ability to build prototype printed circuit board assemblies and cables.
• Experience in obtaining and maintaining regulatory certification for products that comply with UL‑61010 or UL‑60601, CE, and TuV.
• Experience with obtaining EMI/EMC certification.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 10+ years of applicable experience.
