Systems Engineer
Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Staff Systems Engineer to join a leading organization in the medical technology industry and work onsite in Durham, NC
. The ideal Senior Staff Systems Engineer will lead the development and lifecycle management of advanced pharmacy automation products, driving systems engineering efforts across complex electromechanical and robotic solutions in a highly regulated environment.
- Lead systems engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, from concept development to post-market support.
- Define and maintain system requirements, architecture, and design specifications.
- Conduct system-level risk assessments, FMEA, and hazard analyses.
- Develop and execute verification and validation plans to ensure product performance and quality.
- Partner with software, hardware, and cross-functional engineering teams to support product development and integration.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues using root cause analysis techniques.
- Drive continuous improvement of systems engineering processes and tools.
- 8+ years of systems engineering experience with electromechanical and robotic products.
- Strong understanding of the full product development lifecycle for complex systems.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS or Jama Connect.
- Knowledge of risk management methodologies, FMEA, and hazard analysis.
- Experience developing and executing verification and validation activities.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. Master's preferred.
- Salary range: $140,000 - $180,000 annually depending on experience.
